The AMDA Foundation has a history of unique events at AMDA annual meetings. This year our theme, “Caring at the Wall,” will take on many features, from the “Caring Canines” calendar to LTC-related books autographed by authors.

We will continue a member-acclaimed tradition a silent auction of artwork by Jeffrey Levine, MD, CMD. There also will be a drawing for one of the doctor's framed photographs for a lucky $1,000 contributor to the Wall of Caring.

As the Foundation's premiere fundraising event, the Wall of Caring will aim for a record level of contributions in Long Beach to benefit the AMDA Foundation Futures Program. As always, contributors will have the opportunity to pay tribute to the patients, colleagues, friends, and family members who have inspired their work in long-term care.

These tributes will be posted on the wall for meeting attendees to view. After the meeting, the tributes will be posted online at the virtual Wall of Caring. A

AMDA Foundation Chair Daniel Swagerty, MD, CMD, will offer the Foundation update at the Friday General Session and present the 2010 AMDA Foundation/Pfizer Quality Improvement Awards and the 2010 AMDA Foundation/Evercare Awards. Winners will present the findings from their studies in a Friday session from 1:30-3:00 p.m. entitled “AMDA Foundation: Quality Improvement Awards.”

The Foundation will also sponsor the session “QI Research in Nursing Homes,” from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Dr. Swagerty and other members of the Foundation's Scientific Council, including Joseph Ouslander, MD, CMD, John Schnelle, PhD, and others, will focus on translational-research issues relevant to the quality improvement in long-term care. Please join us.
