The American Medical Directors Certification Program has set an ambitious agenda for 2010. Based on information published last year on the value that certified medical directors bring to their facilities in improved patient care and fewer survey citations, the AMDCP board will continue to disseminate articles and press releases on ways that facilities can collaborate with their medical directors to enhance patient outcomes.
The board also will work to strengthen alliances with AAHPM, AHCA, and AAHSA through dialogues with leadership and communication to members about the program. AMDA state chapters and other organizations are encouraged to continue to submit their programs for review and assignment of CMD hours for qualifying content.
The certification program will continue to collaborate with the AMDA Foundation's Futures Program at annual meetings. At this year's meeting, they will host a joint reception on Wednesday, March 10, 8-10 p.m., to enhance the dialogue among CMDs, medical residents, and fellows.
The CMD booth will be open Thursday through Saturday as a resource for CMDs and those interested in becoming CMDs. Members of the AMDCP board will facilitate two tables at the In-the-Trenches roundtable lunch on Saturday, March 13. Find details in the 2010 annual meeting brochure or at www.LTCmedicine.com.
